A serióos gasolina fire ocourred in this city last Friay morning in whioh i Mrs. Esther A. Pike, who manages what is known as Walker's boarding house, on Miller ave., and her doinestio, Miss Ella Grnbbe, were badly bnrned. They were oleaning bed room furnitnre with gasoline. There was no fire in the room and it is not absolutely known how the fire started. It is snpposed, however, that Mrs. Pike must have stepped on a match, as there was a sndden puff and her clothes caught fire. The girl at onoe went to her resoue bnt the room was quickly in a blaze. The two jumped out of the open window, six or sevan feet to the ground. Mrs. Pike's clothes were torn from het with soine diffioulty but sbe was very badly borned about the face, arms and legs. She has been doing well since the accident and the physicians report that her face will not be badly scarred. Miss Grubbe had her hands badly burned. The fire dnpartmenfr was quickly on the scène and extinguished the flames in the building.
