The attendance iu the snrniuer sohool is larger than ever before in spite of the idea ourrent that the war migbt rednce itsnumbers. The attendanoe in the literary department was 192, which is 7 more tban the entire attendance last year and it will gfow still larger. The attendance in the law department is npward of 30. The stndents are drawn froru a wide expaƶse of territory. The literary stndeuts report to Seoretary Mensel iu the faoulty room. the law stndents to Secretary Johnson in the old ohapel, now fitted np for the snmmer as the law library. Law leotnres are given in Tappan hall. Daring the first week the several courses in rhetorio are being given under the direotion of Miss Gertrude Buok. Ph . D., of Vassar Colege, Prof. Soott having gone to Washington, D. O., for that time. She is at present beginuing a oourse of lec;nres on "New Metnods iu tha Teaohing of English Giammar. " A uumber of pnblic leotnres are promised in both departmeuts. Prof. Thompson will speak on "The Judicial System of theJews," Prof. Koowlton on "The Jewish Commonwealth," Judge Lane on "The hawyer," Prof. Wilgus on "Magna Charta." Prof. JohiiBon will also probably lectnre on "The Right of a Teacher in the Pnlilic Schools to Infliot Corporal Punishment."
