M. Jules Lemaitre condemned the study of Greek and Latín the other day at the Paris Sorbonne. He declarad that the national mind had been formed not by the literatura of the Greeks and Romans, except in an indirect way, but by the Scripturesfirstand afterward by the great Frenen writers. M. Lemaitre further declared that he regretted having stndied Greek and La tin 12 years, whereas he is ignorant of Bnglish, which is spoken by half the world, and only knows Germán in a pitiful manner.
