The Salem Farmers' Club
The Salem Farmers' Clnb met at T. DoDOvan's Ang. 3. About 75 ware served to dinner aud several oame later swelling the number in attendance to nearly 100. The meeting was oalled to order by the president, Mr. Herbert Smith. The flrst nuruber ou the program was au instrumental solo by E- tella Donovan. Prayer by Mr. Charles Carpenter, of III. , and seoretary's report. Solo by Mr. Stanbro and a recitation by Blanco Clark. Mrs. B. Smith theD read a paper presenting the temperanoe question wbich was followed by a lively disonssion. The nest was a vooal solo by Miss Pett, a recitation by May Clark a posm by Robert Ross and a recitation by Tena Paokard. Charles Ross then opened the disoossion of the question concerning tbe kind of meu to send to the state legislature. L. Hanter being called upou gave some good views on tbe question. Miss Kingsley then favored the club witb a vooal solo after whioh the correspondiug secretary read eome Communications, one of whioh was an invitation from the Webster Club to atteud their next meeting whioh invitatiou was accepted. A committee of three was appoiuted to investÃgate the "ice wagon" wbich visits Salem. The names of Mr. and Mrs. S. Wilkinson and Mr. and Mrs. D. Farley were presented and aocepted as members. , Af ter a dnet by Mr. and Mrs. Stanbro the meeting adjonrned to meet in one montn at Mr. and Mrs. David Deak's.
