Lookhart's Elephant Cornedians, whioh will be exhibited in oonneotion with Ringling Bros. ' World's Greatest Shows during the visit of this biggest of all shows to Ann Arbor, Saturday, Aug. 27, are beyond all question or dispute the most remarkably trained troupe of animal performers in the world. In fact they are so far abead of anything in the way of trained elephants ever before presented in the United States as to constitute adistinot and startling departure in this form of arenic entertainment. Lookhart's famons comedy elephants have been the most prononnoed sensation of Enrope for several seasons, and the amount of money paid by the Ringling Bros. to bring this wonderful troupe of animal comedians to America would be suffloient to equip and indeflnitely opérate a dozen good-sized oirouses. Their reception in this country has been the most remarkable series of ovations ever aoooided a performance giveu by animal aotors. Thousands of people who see tbem onoe, go again and again, at every opportunity, seeming never too tired of the marvelous and yet exoruciatingly amusing spectacïe of these great, ponderous ' elepahnts going through the varied scènes and presenting the humorously minnte details of a complete coruedy. There is the sportive elephant dude, out for a bilarious lark, who sucoumbs to the temptations of the flowing bowl. Being discovered, rolling about in a ludiorously intoxicated condition, he is spied by an elephaut policeman, who pounoes down upon him, and industriously using his olub, hustles tbe offender off tu the offioe of the pólice magistrate. There he is tried by the magistrate, a ludiorous old elephant, in a bag wig and wearing colossal speotacles, and being adjndged guilty is sentenced to pay a fine aud go to jail. Several otber amtisiug oomedies ars presented by these wonderfnl elephant aotors, together with a oomplete vaudeville entertainment, embraeiug jig and fanoy danoing, a stately minaet, intrioate military evolntions, playing upoo musical instrnments, and niany other surprising feats. Tha Lookhart elephant oomediaus are beyond all oomparison the greatest amusement feature ever seen in the Uuited States, and no other show in the world can present anything to even approximately compare with thero in absorbing and startling interest. Heserved nnmbered seats and admissious show day without any advance in prioe at Wahr's book store. Ringling Bros.' famous and popular circus represerits a cash invesfcment of 13,700,000. The cost of operating this stupendous enterprise will be over $1,200,000 this season.
