Harrington E. Johnsun, a leading colored rnan of this oity, asks that a plaoe be given the colored man on the republican oonnty ticket in the following open letter: "Ever sinoe the birth of the republican party we have always been trne to its principies and never failed to support its candidates. Now wa see no impropriety in asking the republioans this f all toreoognize our raoe by nominating sorue worthy oolored man for oounty treasurer. We have some men here and Ypsilant bas sonte that would flll the bilĂ. John A. Freeman, John C. West aud Stephen Adams oould be notainated and our people would be pleased to see any one of them on the ticket this fall. We are not asking for any favor, only for what is josfc and rigbt, and I feel confident that the party of Premont aud Lincoln will do what is right." %
