A terrible electrioal and rain storm ewept Manchester and vioinity between 2 and 3 o'olook Sunday morning, in faot the storm was very general all through this oouüty. The storm spread terror among the iohabitants of the sonthweastern part of the oonuty laying low many shade trees and unstable buildings, and wasbing ont roads. The ligutniDg was one continual flash, rain feil in tnrrents and the wind was fairly a hnrrieane. Lightning struok several trees and baras with no partioular damage, bnt the barn of Jaoob Walz, in Bridgewater, two miles east of Manchester, was bnrned with aboat 700 bushels of wheat, 1 000 bushels of oats, bay, tools, eto. The insuranee was $90O, but the loss was $2,000. Mrs. Bdmund Lookwood, of Sharon, lost twovaluable farm horses thatwere lying against a wire fence along wbich lightning ran from a ti'ee. At Saline on Sunday morning tbe first rain feil Bince Jane 12. Rain had fallen all around Saline dnriag the summer, bnt that village had been skipped. During the storm lightning strnck and destroyed tbe largt) barn of the George A. Shaw, estáte in York, ocoupied by O. G. MoBride, together with 90 tons of hay, and several hundred bushels of oats aüd a quantity of wheat. Loss SI, 500. Insurauce 600. Duiing the storm James Halladay's barn, a half rnile north of Clinton was strook by lightuiug in four plaoes. No fire resnlted. Thre barns are reported to have been burned nortbeast of Clinton
