Mihvaukee, Oct. 3.- A special from Rice Lake says: Relief parties are now out through the burned districts eouth and west of this city. The loss of life from the disastrous forest flres can not now be estimated, but it will be great. The work of getting to the burned districts is slow as all the bridg-es are down. Over one hundred I persons are missing. Many dead bodles have been found and they are burned beyond reeognition. The remains of one man by the name of Nelson was found in the forenoon at the bottom of a well, .where he had gone to escape the flre. At another place a w ornan and two chHdren were found in a well. The woman was so badly burned that she will die. At another place where a man had been ploTdrsr in a field, his charred remains and the carcasses of his horses were [üu.iJ. All the cattle, horses and other stoel; in a large district have been burned to Ceath. Even the wild animáis could not escape the flames. Chirpewa Falls, Wis., Oct. 3. - August Mason of this city, one of the most extenslve loggers in Wiaconsin, has returned from a trip to his camDS at Cedar Lake, Barron county. He had an exciting expeience with forest flres and reporta the entira loss of all his camps and outfits at Cedar Lake. He also believes that four or his men have lost Üieir lives in the flames.
