THE OFFICIAL COUNT.

How the State Ticket Ran in Washtenaw County - Majorities

The county board of canvassers finished their work Wednesday and duly declared the result of election in this city. Pingree's official majority is placed at 132, Smith's majority was 192, Ward's 469, Wheeler's 79, Stumpenhusen's 55, Gillen's 300, Schuh's 936, Mann's 137, Kirk's 1218, Cook's 175, Murray's 161, Towner's 64, Watts' 223, Kapp's 8, Hoppe's 62. There were 830 more voted against the constitutional change than for it. The returns published in the Argns-Democrat last week were substantially correct and that was the only paper to give its readers full returns last week.

All the democratic state candidates carried the county by majorities ranging from 11 to 126, excepting for governor and one member of the state board of education. Prof. E. F. Johnson carried the county by 6. The vote was as follows: Governor - Pingree, 4,704, Whiting 4,572, Cheever 14, Cook 14, Hasseler 1 ; lieutenant governor - Robinson 4,577, McDonald 4, - 660; secretary of state - Stearns 4,574, Lockwood 4,607; treasurer - Steele 4,525, Smith 4,651 ; auditor general - Dix 4,536, Frisbee 4,654; state land commissioner - Frencli 4,529, Peck 4,621; attorney general - Oren 4,579, Hawley 4,596; superintendent of pubic instruction - Hammond 4,585, Evert 4,596; regents - Sutton 4,304, Dean 2, Olmstead 224, Judkins 4,296, Dickie 230, Farr 1 ; state board of education - Johnson 4,588, Chatfield 4,582; state board of education, full term, Platt 4,565, Willits 4,600

The vote on surveyor was : Jerome Allen 4,571, Dorsey Hoppe 4,633. Hoppe received 21 republican ballots in Sylvan. The vote on the constitutional revision was : 2,449 yes, 3,279 no.
