A device to prevent sleep waiKmg is to lay upon the floor, by the side oL the somnambulist's bed, a shtet of iron, zinc or other metal, wide enough to insure that he will step upon it. When the sleep-walking fit comes upon him his foot touches the cold surface of the metal, and he instinctively draws that leg into bed again. After two or three attempts the somnambulist gives it up and settles down in bed.
