Mrs. O. M. Martin met with a serious accident Friday evening. She bad been out watcbing tlie parade and when she returned home at about 9:80 o'olock she was nnable to reach the key whch had been left on the side porch. She clirabed upou the railing to get the key when she feil striking upon the pavemeut a distance of some ieet below. She stmck on her head and was unconscious until 1 o'clock. The doctor stated that her hat and hair was all that saved her life. At fir9t serious concussion of the brain was feared, bnt happily this did not occur. She is resting easier this afternoon but no visitors are allowed to see her. Her escape is alrnost miraeulous when it is conidered where and how she feil.
