LOCAL BREVITIES.

The residence of Dr. C. B. Nancrede has been leased to the Theta Delta Chi fraternity.

Frank Osborne has been appointed guardian for Ethel G., Grace and Gladys, children of Frank Osborne. Their property consists of an interest in the estate of their grandmother, Mr. Lucy Cooper

Walter Pack, of the Hay & Todd Co. says the company has more orders than it can fill. The advertisement for girls that the Argus is running means just what it says. There is employment for all the girls that apply for work.

The township board of review had a lonesome time of it this year. Not a single "kick" was made, which goes to show that the taxpayers are pretty well satisfied with Supervisor Burtless' assessments. - Manchester Enterprise.

A traveling man named Sackett arrived at the Cook house at noon today and was taken down with an attack of appendicitis. His home is in Pittsburg, Pa.

In the case of Joseph Green vs. John Coyle, the defendant has filed a bond in the circuit court to enable him to appeal the case to the supreme court. His surety is T. D. Kearney.

Post office Inspector Larmour has arrested another thief who has been stealing letters on the Michigan Central. The thief is Lem S. Washburn, baggage agent at New Buffalo, Mich., and for the past 18 months he has been stealing from 200 to 500 letters per week. Possibly some of these were Ann Arbor letters.

Miss Caroline Everest died at 6:30 o'clock last evening at her home on S. Division st. from gangrene of the foot. She had resided in this city for many years and was a lovely character having the esteem of all who were fortunate enough to come in contact with her. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock from the residence, Rev. Mr. McElroy officiating.

The friends of Prof. E. T. Austin, superintendent of the Owosso schools, a Salem, Washtenaw county boy, will be interested in the following dispatch to the Detroit Free Press: "The board of education of Michigan City today engaged Prof. E. T. Austin, of Owosso, Mich., as superintendent of the public schools of that city. Prof. Austin, who is well known in Michigan educational circles, was selected from a list of 100 aspirants. "
