Here is the very latest game gotten up by promissory note swindlers and worked in southwestern Michigan. A well dressed man of clerical appearance drives up to a farm house and asks permission to stay for the night. Before the family and their guest retire for the night, a man and woman stop at the house and inquire the way to the nearest minister, saying they wish to be married. The guest says he is a clergyman and offers his services. A "marriage certificate" is filled out after the ceremony has been gone through with, and the farmer and his wife are asked to sign it as witnesses.
