SMALL STIKE AT CHELSEA

A DIFFERENCE AS TO PIECE WAGES

AFFECTING TWO EMPLOYEES OF THE CHELSEA STOVE WORKS

Chelsea, Mich., Aug. 19. - Considerable interest bas been aroused in a small difference arising in the Glazier Stove factory as to the price to be paid for piece work on the oil tanks for the small kerosene stoves. Originally eight cents a tank was paid, which price was afterwards cut to six cents. Two men were employed doing this work and they became so expert that they turned out 60 tanks each a day. Now the price has been cut to four cents. The two experts refused to accept this and a good tinsmith was put at work making them but the first day only turned out 15, which made his day's wages 60 cents.
