"William Gallagher, executor of the Patrick Gallagher estate, holds a mortgage on the lands of Peter Kelly of Northfield. It was given in 1882 for $3,500 but it has been reduced down to a very fine point. Just how fine the point is was what led the parties into court. Mr. Kelly claimed that there was only $52.62 due. Mr. Gallagher figured up the interest under two other and different interpretations of the contract, and said that either $304.45 or $109.05 was coming to him, Arthur Brown, attorney for Mr. Kelly won out on his position and Judge Kinne ordered a decree for Mr. Kelly upon his tender of $52.02 No costs were taxed as against either party.

DEXTER MASONS DEDICATE THEIR HALL

Recently the high authorities of the Masonic order sent out inquiries to the various lodges in the state to learn how many of them had ever dedicated their halls. Among others it was found that the Flint Masons used their hall 27 years without its having been dedicated, but the Washtenaw Lodge in Dexter have used theirs for 30 years without dedicating it.

The lodge has now decided to hold the dedicatory services and annual installation of officers this evening, it being St. John's Day. The exercises will be open to the families of the Masons and the annual banquet will be served. The following are the offlcers who have been elected for the ensuing year: Worshipful master, A. Lathrop ; senior warden, Alfred Davis ; junior warden, H. G. Jewell; treasurer, R. C. Reeve; secretary,A.
