On thu ISth of April, was a memorable dark day in Meeker county. About 12 m. darkness couimenced overshadowing the earth, and at 2 p. ui. it was as dark as it was af 8 p. ui. It soemed gtrango to see the wholc town of' Litchfield eatiog dinner by lamplight. The darkness continuod, inore or lcss, till tho evening simden closcd in for the night. Monday niorning the atmosphero appearej natural. Chickens went to roost and staid thore till next morning. Canary birds sang their ovening song at 1 . m., and remained silent till next morning.
