Tho llev. Dr. Eddy told the following story with gusto at the recent pastoral rüception, to the llev. Dr. Andenon, ut the South Baptist church, South Boston : "An old lady wlio was somowhat demented, uttended ou his carly pastorate. She was constantly railin ubout tho deacons speaking so foolishly in tho prayermeeting. The doctor told hor not to answer them so spitefully, and, as she was somowhat a vocalist, he adviscd her instead ot' scoldiiif; to sing souaethine af'ter onc had made a vcry foohgh speeoD, and suggested the following stanza : " Wero huif the brenth so vnlnly speut To lieiivcn In HuppllcaMon sent." At the next meeting the doctor delivcrod an adddress and sat down with a l'ccling of perfect satisfaction, when in.stantly the voico of the old lady was heard sonorously rolling out the words of the above couplet.
