The first issue of The University appeared last week. The Ann Arbor school of musió has upwards of 60 students in attendance. The professional as well as the literary dcpartmeats closed last Tuesday for the weck. " Five years ioan American university," is said to be the title of a work which ia being written by Prof. S. A. Jones. The government seems very reticent over the Chinese trealy now in process of incubation by our Angelí. The Tecumseh Ilcrald says that " the property left by Mary Porter, of Chillioothe, O., oonsists of 280 acres of land worth about $10,000." The university will be glad to hcar this. Ezercises at the university closed last Tueeday for one week, thus giving many of the students an opportunity of eating turkey at thcir homes. Also a chance to rest thcir weary brains and recupérate generally. A thicg gladly welcomed by nearly all. Prof. Jas. C. Watson, for several years professor of astronomy at the university, but more recently connected with the uni versity of Wisconsin.died at Madison, Wis., last Tuesday.the 23d, from inflammation of the bowels. His remains were brought to this city for interment The deceascd was a native of Canada West, and 42 years of age. The next lecturc in the students' lecture course will be delivered by the Marie Litta concert company. It will undoubtedly partake of a melodious nature ; be in f'act a succession orcombination of sounds modulated in acoordance. Marie had considerable trouble down in Texas receutly, her agent endeavoring to Mexicanize her.to the utter annihilation of her northern engagements, sa that the exact date of her appcarance can not be given, but it will be early in December.
