Manckixna. Feb. 1U, I8S1. Mr. Editor :- As we are located some miles Dorth of Ann Arbor, we are always interested in weather items ofthe Courier. In your issue of Feb. 4th, you report it as being very cold , but not how cold. Our thermometer stood 27' delow 7.en. When you reported the cold soap before, you stood 20, and we 12 below zero. Wr have had sleighing since the 5th of November, and additioos have been made on an average two days of every weck since, but as the ground never freezes, the snow is constantly thawing from the undcr .sidc, eonsequently tht-re are only two or two and one-half (eet of snow on the surtacc at any one time. " Hugesoowdrifts " and the likc do not delay travel, for we have none here. The hauling of logs was, howcver, suspended tliis weck, on account of the thaw we are having. It rained Tuesday and Wedncsday, but to-day (Thursday) it Ls snowing again. It does not cost niuch to keep warm, since tberailroad company has relused wood, and good tcach and maple wood can be bouglit for 60 and 75 per cord. llespectfully,
