Death Of Dr. D. W. Bliss
Dr. Daniel W. Bliss died at his residence on William Street, Tuesday, Dec. 6th, 1881, at 10:45 p. m. Dr. Bliss came to Ann Arbor in 1833, when the city was little more than a village. He first opened a grocery store but soon engaged in the wholesale and retail boot and shoe business. He was of the old Thompsonian school of physicians and of late years has practiced more or less in this city. About a year ago a tumor formed on the right side of his neck and the growth of that finally caused his death. About a week before his death he was seen upon the street for the last time. His wife died about one year ago. Their six children are still living, all of whom have reached their majority. The funeral will be held at his late residence today at 2 p.m.
