The deed is done. Thomas VV. Palmer is eleoted United States Seimtor. We don't like it. But as we don't know of any way to help ourselves we are going to stand it like men. The renson we don't like it is not because we have aiiything against Mr. Palmer but becauso we dislike the means lus fiïends used to defeat Mr. Ferry in order to compass his own election. However, now lie is elected we fiiid much to console us, and the more we think of it the more we are inclined to rejoice at the clioice, for the reason that he has all thetraits.characteristicsandabilky to niake nlm one of the best senators the State has ever had. We prophesy hc will do tt. His election will spoil the fine calculations of a good many prorsfnt politiclans in Detroit and there will be a new order of things. We hope to see Win. Llvingstone made Collector of the port of Detroit as Mr. Palmer owes his election to him more than to any other man. Michigan us a State is honored by his election. We would like to say niore on this matter, but havi'ig just heard of it as the forma re jroing to press we iind onrselves unablfi fuitlier to express our mind.
