In a recent number of the Michigan Medical News Dr. S. 0. Woodman gives some remarkable particulars conccrning ayoung man whoseems to be a regular storehouse of electricity. The young man's name is William Underwood, age tweaty-seven ycars, and his gift is that of generating fire through the medium of his breath, assisted bv manipulations of his hands. Ho will take anybodv's handkerchief and hold it in his mouth, rub it vigorously with his hands while breathing oa it, and immediately it bursts into flames and burns until consumed. He will strip, and rinse out his mouth thoroughly, wash his hands, and submR to the most rigid exarnination to preclude the possibiiity of any bumbug, and then by his breath blown upou auy paper or uloth, envelop it in llame. He will, when out gunning and without any matches, desirous of a íire, lie down after collecting dry leaves, and by breathing on them start a fire, and then cooly take oft his wet stockings and dry them. It is impossible to persuade him to do it more thau twice a day, and the eftbrt is attended with the most extreme exhaustion. He will sink into a chair aftor doing it, and on oneoccason, after he had a uewspaper on üro. Dr. Woodman placed his hand on his head aud discovered his scalp to be violently twitching, as if under intense excitement. He will do it at any time, no matter where he is, under auy circumstances, and Dr. Woodman has repeatedly known of his sitting back from tha dinuer table, taking a draught of water, and by blowing on lus napliu at once set it on fire. He is ignorant, and says that he finsl discovered his strange power bj inhaling and exhaling on u perfumed handkerchief that burncd suddenly while in his hands.
