The Bridge proposed for the East River in 1811 by Mr. Thoin:is Pope, to counect New York and Brooklyn, is to be shown in the July St. Xicliolasin connectioii vvith a fully illustrated deseription of the present bridge by Mr. Charles Barnard. Mr. Pope publislied a book (now very rare) in advoeaey of his plan, and the St. Nicholas illustration is a reprint of the engraving which formed the f rontispiece of that yolume. It will be accompanied by some reminiscences of Mr. Pope, contributed by General Thomas S. Cummings, one of New York's oldest citizens.
