The icsults of the tenth census of the United States can probably be condenseii into about 15,000 octavo pages and from twelve to iifteen volumes. The first two volumes have been issued and have been received froni Washington at the CocRiEK office through the thonghtfullness of Senator Ferry. In tliem is a compendium giving the condensed result of the census. The statisticts which of course are complete, are of gre:it value and interest as showing the growth and condition of the country. The total expenses of this great work will be something over four millions of dollars, but it is undoubtedly accurate and exlmistive. The Ninth census cost three millions and a third and in the interval the population has increased 30 per cent. So taking this into account as well as the increase in the other eleinents of cost the ainount for the last census, is not so large proportionally. Besides' the last one is mucli more comprehensivo and correct, lt has for the first time the statisticts of railroads, telegraphs and telephones; fire, marine and life insurance, and doublé the amount of information in the department of agricultura and manufactures. All these facts are worthy of a laiger circulation among the masses af their value increases proportionally with their widespread dissemination. So we purpose giving weekly installments to our readers of statisticts rclative to the State and county interests. By such a metliod they can be better taken in and digested by all of us. To give a proper idea of our relation to the whole we iirst will give the aggregates of population and afterwards the more local statisticts.
