The Saline Observer sums up the results of the pastyear's work at the Poor House: The producís on the eounty poor farm for last year consisted of G35 bushels of wheat, 253 bushels of corn, 525 bushels of potatoes, 50 bushels of anions, 5 bushels of turnips, 50 tons of hay, producís of nine cows, $3G0, swine and increase of same, $220.25, poultiy do, $20, total. $2,517.10. For sustaining the County Poor House the fol-owing amounts are now due the poor f umi for last year's board and care, f rom the townships named: Bridgewater, $70.20; Lodi, $70.00; Manchester, $185.83; Pittstield, $24.30; Saline $127.70; York, $140.40. The total ainount for the whole county is $8.922.29. Estlmated value of pauper labor, $75. The farm stock is valued at $1,420. The estimated value of farm implemento on hand is $850; of household fuiniture, clothing, boots and shoes, groceries, dry goods, etc, $3,772.50. Whole munber of male paupers maintained during the year, 129; female paupers, 56, total, 185; average nuniber maintained, 71. Whole number under 16 years of age, 17; idiots 8; blind, 3; mutes, 3, Nativity of paupers, American, 76; Canadián, 8; Engli9h, 10; Irish, 40; Scotch, 2; Germán, 37; Swedes, Ij Italian, 1; Negroes, 10. The average number of persons supported at the county house for the year ending September 20, 1873 was 81, at an average cost of $1,35 per week. The estimated expenses for the year ending September 30, 1884 are put down at $9.000. The superintendnnts recommend and have asked for an appropriation sufflcieot to run the county house and make some needed iinproveinents in the way of tile draining, and for the constructjon of a new barn.
