BarthoIjDI's Great Statdte. - A very largo and beautifully ezecuted picture of Barthokli's great statute of "Liberty Enlightening the World,'1 has been presented to us by the Travelers Ins. Co., of Hartford, Conn., who have been among Hie most liberal eontributors to the Fund. Tbe picture, which is 2flxi; inches in size, gives au excellent idea of ihe superb work of art which is to adorn the liaibor of Xew York. Though meiitlon of íi cliange la tlie outward appearance of the High School Index comes from us a üttle late, our pleaure in referring to ït is none the less. Iirieflv, theii, the Index has a new cover consisting n the upper part of a cut of a model higli school building, the name of the paper, &c. In the lower part of the design the distinctive character of the publicatiou is set forth, special contributors are named, &c. Ou the vvhole, the nevv departure and enterprise are to be oommended. The Index is fast taking a prominent place as "a national jourual of secondaiy education." Henry Ward Beecher's recent lecture, "A Circuit of the Continent,' has been published by Fords, Howard & Hulbert, in a i eat pamplilet, coiitaining a capital wood-engraved portrait of "tlie old man eloquent." This address was first delivered in Mr. Beecher's own chiirch last Thanksjrivino; Day, belng in the nature of a review of our national elements and conditions. It has also been delivered in Boston and other places, exciting special interest on account of his graphic descriptions of the great Northwest- its wheat lands and cattle ranges and lumber regions and marvelous future possibillties- and his treatment of thequestion of Mormonism in Utah, and the civil status of the negroes in the South. It is published at ten cents. By the way, the "Plyinouth Pulpit," by the same publishers, i.s a weekly publication of sermons by the eminent divine, well worth your regular parchan,
