Mrs. Arthur Nichols leaves to-day to make a visit in Al pena. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Ludlow contémplate an eastern trip soon. Mrs. M. AI. Tuttle made a short trip to Toledo and Chicago recently. Mrs. Levi D. Wines leaves to-day for a trip to Troy, N. Y., and the east, George C. Mahon, Esq., left Monday to join his fatnily at Charlevoix. Charles CalUghan, of Chicago, spent a few days in the city last week. Mrs. W. R. Henderson is stopping at the Hudson cottage at Wliitmore. A brother of Mr. Williams, of the Bee Hive, is visiting here from the West. W. F. Pett picniced at Whitmore last Friday with a party of Ypsilautians. Mr. and Mrs. W. Thomas and Mrs. Seymour spent Sunday at the Lake. Will Hatch and family are in Bay City on a week's visit with Mrs. Hatch 's brother. Miss Clara E. Spoor, of the postoffice, is No. 2 in taking a vacation; it begins today. John Moore Jr., and Clarence Hyde are at Huronia Beach for aseveral weeks' stay. Alva Collins left Monday on a several months' trip for D. M. Ferry & Co., Detroit. Mrs. Charles Howe is spending a few weeks very pleasantly with friends in Ionia. Mis. Stafford returned this morning from a visit to Akron, O., of several weeks. Miss Jennie Vandeveiiter left Monday to spend the summer in Dundee with her mother. Miss Carrie lloss, who is stopping in Detroit, is visiting parents and friends in the city. N. II. Winans left Monday for a two weeks' trip to Grayüug, Mich. IIow the flsh will suffer! Prof. Payne's, Mr. E. N. Gilbert's and Mrs. Martha Ball's families leave to-day for Whitmore. Mrs. John F. Aliller formerly of this city, now of Washington, D. C, Is visiting friends here. John Btnedict came down from Jackson yesterday. He has been palnting - the town red (?). Robert Traub, of Detroit, visiting Gerhardt Josenhaus for a few days past returns home to-day. Mrs. J. O. Banks and daughter Gertie. of Wiiltehall, Mich., are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Rose. 8. W. Clarkson, of the First National, is off tor a sliort vacation this week, to Manchester and Tecumseh. Prof. and Mrs. Taylor, of Albion, are visiting at Mrs. Taylor's father's, Mr. B. Brown on State Street. Gustave W. Schlotterbeck is spending the summer at Pittsburgh, Pa. He has a sister there, we believe. Mrs. Perkins, accompanied by her two sons, of Grand Rapids, are the guests of Mrs. Hamilton, Madison Street. Miss Louise Canwell is visiting her sister Mrs. J. E. Wyman, of Detroit. She will probably remain a month yet. Charlie Gibson came in Monday evening fiom Whitmore, and went back yesterday morning. He likes it there. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Blitz, of Detroit, left for home Monday after a several days visit with S. S. Blitz and family. Miss Matie Esssck, of Detroit, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Belser recently, is now visiting at Geo.Hutzel's in Pittsfleld. Messrs. R. C. Barnum, F. C. Bird and brother, of Unadilla, Livingston county, paid us a short visit yesterday at the office. Mrs. Judge McClellan left yesterday for Auburn, IncL, in company with Mrs. Tefft, who has been visiting with her since Tuesday last. Misses Emrua Hoy and Laselle, of Manctiester, passed through Ann Arbor Saturday for Whitmore to spend a day at the Stone cottage. Mr. E. A. Phillips, agent or the Toledo road, wife and daughter are visiting in New York State. They will probably return the latter part of the week. Dr. A. L. Worden, of Des Moines, Iowa, is spending a little time here visiting. All are glad to welcome him and his companion as often as they can come. Miss Lida Canwell is home from her school work at Ionia. She leaves sood to accept a position in the office of her brother-in-law Mr. J. E. Wyman, Detroit. Mrs. R. M. Barker, of Flint, returned home yesterday. Her sister, Miss Abbie A. Pond, accompanied her and will make her home with Mrs. Barker at Flint bereafter. M. W. Edgar, district deputy grand chancellor of the Kniahts of Pythias.was here last Thursday from Jackson to conduct the installation of offleers for the ensuinji term. Miss Lucy E. Chapín left for Washington last Wednesday. After visiting her father there a short time, shegoes up the Connecticut on a further visit to relatives and friends. Mrs. R. A. Beal and sister, Miss Beert, went up to Dexter yesterday to visit relatives and friends. They go to Northville to-day and will probably return home Saturday. Miss Lida Outwater, of Lockport, N.Y., who was the guest of the Misses Payne some weeks since, bas returned from her visit to Portland, Mich., and will go to Whitmore with their party. Messrs. R. S. Vernor and Geo. Milien leave on the24th for a trip to the White Mountains. Rob. while away will pay a visit to his home in Alontreal, where he has not been for three years. Karl and Matie Schlenker, of Toledo, O., son and daughter of Rev. Schlenker who died suddenly last August while viniting his brother-in-law, Fred Hutzel, Esq., are visiting relatives and friends in the city. Miss Lily Boughton attended her brother'a marriaje, in Detroit, last week. The families of Chauncey and Charles Millen and Dr. Frothingham aresojonrning at Whitniorc. Mrs. Watts will not return till August lst, ortherenbouts. Mrs. Strongr, of Detroit, has joined her daughter in her visit with Mrs. Stebbins, Miss Emily and other relatives in the city. John Lindenschmidt doesn't speak very highly of Ashland, Wis., and the surrounding country; lie likea the hotel, however, which is about the only attractive point in the place as per John. Word from Miss Ninette Burleigh reporta her quite ill after passing through the terible strain of her sister's illness, etc. She is ii the Catskill mountains. Her many friends in Ann Arbor will be glad to hear of her improval at an early date.
