Commissioner at Lansing, was in the city Wednesday. Miss Belle Glenn, of the school of music has been seriously indisposed for a few days past. Judge Emerick is spending a month about his old homes, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Joe T. Jacobs leaves Ann Arbor tomorrow morning, for a few days' stay at Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. J. R. Bach has returned from several days' visit to her sister, Mrs. O. S. Parker, at Howell. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Loeffle. of Ann Arbor, are the guests of Mrs. A. Teasdale.- Howell Republlcan. Mrs. M. J. C. Merrill, librarían of the agricultura) college, has been spendinga few days in this city. J. E. Beal, proprietor of the Coürieu. is absent this week on a business trip to New York. Y., the past three weeks. She is expected home this week. Fred Schultz, a former Coukieu boy anticipates going to New Orleans next week to see the big show and perhaps locaie. T. Y. Kayne, of the imperial truss company, of this city, is visiting friends at his old home in Toronto, after a three years' absence. County Clerk Robison and sou James A.. spent Sunday in the metropolis of Michigan, and the former got interviewed by a newspaper man. Rev. Maltby Gelston, who was stricken with naralysis some monthsago, is slowly gaiiiing in strength, and hopes are entertainen of his recovery. A letter from Mis. N. H. Plerce to frieuils in the city, states that she is at present in Kansas City, and that she will probably go to California before returning home. We regret exeeedingly to learn that Prof. Chas. H. Stowell is 110 better than at our last report. He is seriously ill again, and it may be some length of time before he recovers. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Boughton have been in Detroit since Friday, on whicli dny they were called there by the indden death of Mrs. Buugbton's father, Rev. J. M. Arnold, D. D. Joe Stimpson, whose familiar face had become a pleasant greeting to niany of our Citizeng, left Ann Arbor Monday morning for New Orleans. After remaining there for a time and seeing the sights he will continue his pilgrimage to the land of the setting sun, California. May success be his lot, for he is deserving of it. Miss Mmy Gelston, of this city, a former teacher in Saginaw, who bas been traveling in Europe siace .luly last, is now on her way home. One of the party of ladies with Miss G. lost a brotber, in coii8(;qiience of whicli, r.nd of the prevalence of cholera in Rome and Southern Europe, the trip was considerably shortened.
