As the terms of Rev. George Duuleid and Hon. Jacob J. Van Ripcr expire for the university regency with the present year, their successors are to be eiected this spring. Both of these gentlemen have been of no small benefit to the university by their being on tbs board, and they should be renominated, for no clearer-headed, broader-minded, scholarly and capable men could be called to fill their placea. Their position has been ever on the eide of right and for the advancement of Mie great interests in thoir charge. So for these reasons we regret to learn tbat they will not allow their names to be again used as candidates. Thercfore, since this is absolute other men must be considered. One of the best fitted men mentioned for the regency is Major W. C. Kansom uf Xjnlising. Uo wao gradufttfi'l f'rnni thp univeiBity in 1848, and bas ahvays shown an interest in liis alma mater by being a prominent memoer of the alumni association. He has had a varied expei lence in Üfe and would bring to the place good judgment, enthusiasin and ibility. Hoving been for several years In th office of Commisáioner of Railroads, he is widely known and deservedly popular, henee lie would be a good stroug candidate. For ourselves we ean repeat what the Manistee Times has said of liim : The Times knows of no better man in the state for the pottition of regent than the aloresaiii Major V. C. Itansom of LansiDg. Don Henderson, of Allegan, is being urged for the office of regent. He would make a good one.
