At the meeting of the Board of Regenta last week, action was taken on several thins of more or les importance to the public. Prellminary steps were taken lonking to the eelebration of the Mtnl-oentenDla] of the university In 1887-8. In the chemical laboratory A. L. Green remains and assumes the duties of another aggistant al a salary of $20, and Cuas. L. Davis takea L. L. Van Slyke's place at $250, and another assistant yet to bc appointed at $250. The Ann Arbor Water Work Co. offered to furnlsh the university with water for $500 per year. A vote of thanks was tendercd the Cliinese jrovernment for its recent gift to the univcrsity, and also to 8ir Robert Hart, through whom t was secured. At Wednesday'g session Asst. Librarían Osgood had his salary ad vaneed from $200 to $300. A W. Burnt'tt, '80 was appoiuled instructor in English and Germán, $900 per year. Instructors Dewey, Kingsley and D'Ooge reappointed. Prof, II. W. Rogéis had added to his title Prof. of Roman Law,no increase of snlary. Dr. J. M. Martin lecturer on dental patuoloey and suijtery, $300. T. J. Wrumplemeyer advanced to $1,000 per year. In homeop. dept. Prof. T. P, Wilson retained, and reducedto $2,000; H. L" Obetz raised to $2,200; H. R. Arndt elected in place of Cowperthwaite at $2,000: J. C. Wood, of c"klwiiter in Plce of N. Baldwin at $1,bOO ; D. F. Alüguire $400 hs specialist in cyo linear, in iile mecliHnic.il laborator-v Prof. M. E. The resignation of Prof. Campbell was received, and a resohition passed cora pil mentary to liim and his work. ín the libraries $1,000 glven to the law, $1,000 to the medical and $3,000 to the general. The building committce was authorized to procure plans and apecilieations for a new inechanical laboratory and pioceed to erect the same. Bids tor a dock for the library tower weae received and Dr. Adamsand the auditing board authoiïzed to contract for the same. Aiuliting board also authorized to Vy freight on the Hogers' art collectiou and on the Chinese exhibit. By order of the board tbe followiuhonorary decrees were conferred: Henry 8.
