Those of our cltizens wlio all ïlong have had grave doubts about tlie building of the T. A. & N. M. railroad tliis year are at last gatlstied that the company lias sec-ured tlie neetlful financcs and now mean business. Wessra. W. V. McCracken & Co., New York capitalists, have contracted with the company to build the road, and 011 Monday last opened offices at Howell in the Jewett block. Hitilroad comractors were here trom all paris of the country to bid for the construction of the bed from Durand to this place- 22 miles. The contract was tinally awarded to llessra. McLane & Wilson, the former gentleman being a resident of Coldwater, this state, and the latter an Ohio rallroader. Immediately upou setting the contract they set meu to work at clearing, and advertised for 200 teams and 500 men. They expect to have the ilirt flying in gnod shape inside of five days, and will keep matters lively all along the line, as they have contracted to have tlieir work done by December lst, next. They build the culverts and bridges and put the bed in ghape for ties. Howell will be tbeir headquarters, all men beiug paid at their office here, which will prove a great benefit to tlie place. The interest of W.V. McCracken & Co. are represented here by Mr. J. H. Sample, an expeiieneed engineer, assisttd by Mr. H. M. McCracken, who will have charge of the tie and timber department. Those wishing to get out ties will lind these gentlemea ready to make contracta with tliem.
