J. C. Stevens, dent. '87, has been rusticating at Feuton during the week. Prof. Frieze and daughter Addie went to Port Iluron Saturday, for a few day's stay. Howard Ayres, lit. '83, of Fort Smith, Ark., has been appointed instructor in blology at a salary of f900. And from the present scare about buildings tumbling down, it mlglit be just as well for the " exhibit " if it is never unJacked in the museum building. If one can judge by appearances, there iss't a building in the city in a more sliaky conditlon than the new museum building. If t doesu't all cave in some day, appearances are mlghty deceiving. On Thursday last ground was broken on the campus for the inechanical laboratory building, for which the legislature appropriated $10,000. The plans for this ïew structure cali for a building 70x80 eet in size, two stories high above the basement, to be co?ered wtth a hip roof. According to the present plans the first floor will be used for iron working mahinery of various kinds, and a sunerinendent's office and sitting room will also be located upon this Hoor. The wood working machinery will be upon the second floor with carpenter shop and pattern nakino machinery. In the basement will ie located the testing and hydraulic maliinery, experimental engine, and other apparatus for experimental purposes. The buildings occupied at preseut by the nechiiiiical department are to be used as ngiue and wash room?.
