E. B. Abel returned fiom the east last Friday. Ed. J. Morton left Monday night for San Francisco. A pleasant company was entertained last e ven ing at Mr. Ferdon's. Mrs. C. L. Pack is expected home from Washington to-day or to-morrow. Mr. Phies of L:ike Linden, Upper Península, has been in the city a few days. Bishop Brown was entertained by Mrs Dr. Welt and not by Prof. Morris as stated. Fred'k Laubengayer of Lodi, left Monday evening for Kansas to look aftcr land, etc. F. Henderson went to Port Huron Monday evening, to attend the Grand Lodge of Royal Arcanum which is now in sesaion in that city. Ed. Burnett, for thiiteen years the American Express agent at Jackson, has been i;iven a fine new oflioe. Iu 18GG he bejrun by driving a delivery wagon in this city for the company.
