Last Sunday was a sad day for the good people of our neighboring village up the HurĂ³n, for it witnessed a fatal accident that will long be remembered by the people of Dexter for IU horror. Abouf three o'clock p. ra. of that day, Mr. and Mra. Dennis Warner were walking out to the residence of their son, who uves a short distance across the railroad track west of town. Just as they carne to the track tliey noticed the day cxpress coming unusually fast. Mr. Warner was walklng slightly iu advance and crogscd over supposinj? Mrs. Warner to bedireotly behind, bilt upon turning aronnd what as his horror to Ree that siie had Jolt etepped upon the tra"ck without time to cross. He inotioned her back bnt she did not heed, and in a second more was struek by the pilot of the engine and thrown a distance of a couple of rods, her liead striklng into the bank at the 8ide of the track, killing tier instantly. Mr. Warner ran to wliere she was thrown, and when the ppople came to them he hnd her in his arms, but life was extinct. The body wa9 carried to her son's home a few rods distant. Airs. Martha Murdock Warner, whose sad fate is above recorded was thowife of Dennis Warner, one of tliis cotinty's most respected and well-known citizcns. who lias re8ided here since 1833. 8he mi born in Mussaolmsetts, in 1825, came to Michigan In 1839, was married to Mr. Warner in 1855, and has resided at Dextr ever 9ince. She leaves one child only, Chas. II Warner, of Dexter. 8he had for many years been one of the leadinj; members in the Congregational Church, trom which her funeral wlll be held Thursday aftemoon at 2 o'elock.
