Tefft, Robert F.

Age 74, died suddenly Monday, June 19, 1989 at the Saline Community Hospital. He was born March 7, 1915 in Jackson, MI, the son of William W. and Ethel (Foote) Tefft. He had been a Saline area resident since 1947. On June 22, 1940, he married Bess M. Hagaman in Hillsdale, MI, and she preceded him in death on February 23, 1977. He then married Nellie Peak on September 29, 1979 in Augusta, GA, and she survives. Mr. Tefft was a graduate of Jackson High School Class of 1933 and Ohio Wesleyan University of 1938. He was twice past-president of the Saline Kiwanis Club and past-president of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau. He was also Secretary-Treasurer of the Michigan Poultry Breeders Association, and had been Secretary to the Saline Fair Board for many years. He was also a member of the Washtenaw County Mental Health Board, and a licensed poultry judge. He was also a member of the Michigan State 4-H Development Committee. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, William W. Tefft and his wife Nancy A., of Hillsdale, MI, and Robert M. Tefft and his wife Judith A., of Brooklyn, MI; and four grandchildren, David A., Laura L., Jennifer M. and Lisa R. Tefft. Other survivors include five stepchildren, Mrs. Allen (Laura) Wood of Ladson, S.C., Mrs. Raymond (Carolyn) Gannaway of Fairfax, VA, Mr. Edward Gilliland and his wife Chris, Mr. Wayne Gilliland and his wife Sandra, and Mrs. Buddy (Betty) Golucke, all of Augusta, GA; nine step-grandchildren, Andrea and Ginger Kelley, Cynthia Wood, Katrina and Michael Gannaway, Heather and Miranda Gilliland, Kelly Gilliland, and Gillian Golucke. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 1989 at 11 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Saline with the Rev. Lloyd E. Christler officiating. Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery, Jackson, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Saline Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the ROBISON-BAHNMILLER FUNERAL HOME, Saline, where friends may begin calling on Wednesday between the hours 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
