Tefft, Mrs. Bess H.
1880 Textile Rd., Ann Arbor -
Age 61, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 1977 at Marco Island, Florida. Born Oct. 6, 1915 in Hillsdale, she was the daughter of Elmer B. and Violetta Greenshaw Hagaman. On June 22, 1940 she was married to Robert F. Tefft in Hillsdale and he survives. Mrs. Tefft was a former member and president of the Saline School Board; was editor of the Farm Bureau News for 25 years; was a member of the Detroit Womens Writers Club; and was current president of the Ann Arbor Womens Writers Club; a member of the Womens Commissioners of Hillsdale College; a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was rival hospitality chairman of the Volunteers of International Hospitality Program, University of Michigan. Mrs. Tefft has edited and published two childrens books and written and published numerous articles of various subjects. She was a graduate of Hillsdale College in 1937 and a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. In addition to her husband she is survived by: two sons, William W. of Jonesville, Robert M. of Brooklyn; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ardath Bootes of Marco Island, Florida; one niece and one nephew. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Bahnmiller Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Jackson. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hillsdale College Scholarship Fund for Future Writers.
