County Draft Boards Ready For Drawing

The draft boards bare are ready. Are you?

Tomorrow noon will mark the beginning of a history-making lottery at Washington. Numbers will be drawn to determine the order in which draft registrants will be called to service in the nation's first peacetime conscript army.

The city draft board's final list of draft numbers is published in The Ann Arbor News today. The numbers also are posted on walls of the board's headquarters on the second floor of the Armory.

Offices of the board for Washtenaw county outside of Ann Arbor have been temporarily established in the Ypsilanti State Savings bank and numbers may be obtained there from 8:30 to 4:30. Permission has been asked to use second floor rooms at the Tuomy building here on N. Fourth Ave. for the board’s headquarters and if the request is granted the registration numbers will be posted there.

The local boards will select men to fill the call in the order in which the draft numbers are drawn at Washington. Man who volunteer for immediate induction will be drawn first, however, without regard to their numbers. No registrant will be called while an appeal from his draft classification is ponding.

Each local board is to post a list of men selected for conscription and furnish a list to the local newspapers.
