Age 50, died January 1, 1995 in New York City, where he resided the past 30 years while being engaged in Theatrical Management. He was born December 31, 1944 in Ypsilanti, MI. Donald was member of First Baptist Church of Ypsilanti; Boy Scouts of America - Life Scout, and Ypsilanti High School Band and Orchestra. He graduated from Michigan State University in Floraculture and Design, and Small Business Management. He was employed at Hon’s Florist, locally for a period of time before going to New York City, where he did floral decorating for hotels; He became interested in Theatrical Management and for the past twenty years, had worked in Legitimate Theatre - both on and off Broadway. Don had a great appreciation of beauty as found in nature, the theatre and that which he created in his garden and home. He had musical ability which was cultivated in high school, playing both clarinet and bassoon. He also had an interest in organ and rebuilt a 100 year old church organ which he enjoyed playing. He brought artistic insight into his position of Theatre Management. He was a much loved son. He will be greatly missed by many. Donald is survived by his parents, Alvin L. and Erma Joslyn of Ypsilanti; two brothers, David E. and nieces, Christine and Julia of Livonia, MI; Paul D. and nieces Treva and O’Calla, Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Marilyn (Charles) K. Joslyn-Sheets and nephews Ryan and Nathan of Saline, MI. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 1995 at 1:30 at the First Baptist Church of Ypsilanti, with Rev. Vivan Martindale officiating. Burial will follow in Arborcrest Cemetery. Contributions in Donald's honor may be made to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the JANOWIAK FUNERAL HOME, Geer Logan Chapel, where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. and the Church on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
