Seyfried’s Under New Ownership

FRIDAY MAY 12 1978

Seyfried Jewelers, 304 S. Main St., now is under new ownership following the retirement of Ralph Seyfried.

Jim and Bill Hart have taken over the 66-year-old jewelry store and will continue to operate under the Seyfried name.

The Pennsylvania native brothers say they decided to buy the business because both have worked in sales and have wanted to get a business of their own. Jim Hart will manage the store and Bill Hart will handle advertising and continue in his job as a salesman for Noritake China.

Jim Hart has just moved to Ann Arbor from Pennsylvania where he was a salesman for the Thomas J. Lipton Food Co. Bill Hart has been in Ann Arbor the last six years.

No major changes in the store are planned aside from some interior remodeling and an expansion of the wedding band and diamond ring selections. The store’s six full-time employees — four of which have worked at the store for the last 20 years — will continue under the new ownership. Jim Hart said.
