Based on the 1981 book by Vito Russo, this extraordinary documentary utilizes over 100 Hollywood move clips to "explode" and explore the myths behind gays and lesbians in the movies, and movies about homosexuality. Following the evolution of images, roles and misconceptions, the film also includes interviews with industry leaders who played key roles in this evolution including Tom Hanks, Shirley MacLaine, Paul Rudnick, Whoopi Goldberg, Tony Curtis and Gore Vidal.
