The first anniversary cf the New York Sooity will be held on Thursday, Dac. 6th, 1860. Addrcss at 3 o'clock. P. M., at the Pres, bytenan Church, by Rev. Dr. Tappan. Business meeting at 1}L, P. M., at the Franklin House. Anniversary Dinner at 8 P, II., at samo place. New Yorkers by birth, and descendant of New Yorkers, are invited to become members of the Society, and particípate in there anci Tersary eiercises. The public not eligible to membership are invited to be present at the address, and aid in rating the dinner Dinner tickets 75 cents each, to be had at the Bcok Stores and at the Post Office. To our friends of the New England Society, formed for the same purpose of mutual good fellowship and good will, and to keep alive the memory of the "Fatherland," and which is composed in part of Nv Yorkers bom we xtend a special and fraternal invitation to ttend and share in our festivities and enjoy ments. Beakes A Abel, lawyers, at the corner of Fourth nnd Ann streots, and Book-Cases, Books, Safes, Files, etc, etc. ■were speedily pitched into the street. There is no doubl that the fire was an iticeodiary one, and that somebody wanted to see the Detroit Firemen show their prowess. We are glad to hear that Messrs. B. & A suffered no irreparable loss, their valuable library and papers being saved. They have lóeated in DiFoeest'r City Hall building, and their lato place of business is being repaired and fitted up for a meat market. "Vat n change " We understand that two other buildings were fired obout the same hour; the Paint Shop of C. Beooke, corner of Fifth and Huron Streets, and the old Blacksmith shop corner of Fourth and Washington Streets. Theso latter fires were diseovered in time to preyent . any los. E3T The remarkably "fine spell of wea'her," - for November - disappeared ín a rain storm on Saturday evening last, since which raina.snow flurnes, winds, freezcs and tbaws have altevnated in rapid suecession.- liovcmber is recovering her storniy reputation.
