Thursday, Oct. 17th, 1861. Board convened at 9 o'clock, A. M., Mr. Compton 'Hn the chair. Roll malled, quorum present. Mr. Childs moved that each Supervisor report to the Board on Monduy afternoon next, the names of persons ■elieved from the Volunteer Fund, and the amount of relief. Carried. Mr. Gray offered the following resoution : Resolved, That the Prosecuting Attorney be requested to report to this Board, at liis earliest convenience, whether tbere are any forteiuirea, tines, or bonds due the County. Adopted. Mr. Krapf offered the following resolution : liesolved, That the sum of Fifteen Dollars be appropriated for the purpose of enabling the Register to revise and complete the Records and Trad Book, from the records in the county of Wayne. Lost. Mr. Gray moved that so many of the conununications received from the County Treasurer as have not been referred be referred to a select committee of three. Carried. and Messrs. Thompson, Haire, and McColl, appointed such committee. On motion of Mr. LeBaron, Mr. Crittenden was added to'the committee. Mr. McKernon offered the following preamble and resol ution : Whereas, ihe Swamp Commissioners, in making out their report for 1860, levied a tax upon the land of Thomas Earl described as follows, viz: North East quarter of North West quarter oí Section 16, to the amount of $6,24, includiiifr assessor's fees in the Tówiisliip of Ñorthfield, for what is knöwn as the Horse Slioe Lake Ditch, wlien it was their intention to levy said tax upon the land of John Fohey, Sen., described as follows: South East quarter of North West quarter of Section 16, as they declare was their intention, and ax their map xhows to have been correct ; and furthermore, as said Thomas Earl paid siich tax under protest as unreasonable and unjust, therefore, Resolved, That said Swamp Land Cominissionci-s, in makins; out their report for the ycar 1861, ba instrncted by this Board ot Supervisors to re-assèss said tax upon said Fohey's land, and the County Treasurer be instructed to pay the same over to the said Thomas Earl. Mr. Crittenden moved as an amendinent that other Cities and Towns be allowed the amounts expended by them. Mr. White moved that the matter be indefinitely postponed. Carried.
