On that nigiit I was on cfuty as Sorgënni of the Guard. Luto in the night we wero viited at tho gtiard tent, by tho Lieuf Cölónel, who informed us that there was a probubiüty of our receiving orders to rmrcli at any inioute. But, tiiü night passed without the order, tho exciternent flied awny, ar.d wo are here jet. Stmday inorning I nUnëssed a splendid sight. Saturday night set in beantifnl. On Tueeijay, about two hundred ir.en vvere dutailed from this Regiment for pitket du tv. They have jiiRt re turned. My opinión is that their picket duty consiritcd in throwing np breastworks, and that they hatidL'fl tho t&pvel aml piek more than they did their fire ;irms. Among the number were our two Lióötenantr, Swan and Prenti.ss. - A few momcDts ago a batlery of ix cannon passed bv here on its way to' wand the enemy's line.
