-Tho Chicago Tribune of the lstsays: " We learn fiom Springficld that Gov. Yatos and thn State officers have just returned f rom Fort Donelson, and that thoy report that the killed at the late battle, including those who will die of their wounds, amount to full one thousand ; and that the wounded, who will recover, some maiined and crippled for life, equal fifteen hundred. The eati mate - itiabnly an estímate based upon personal observation - is probably far too bigh ; but every arrival from the soene of action increases the mortalily lista, and every day scores of brave and loyal men fall off into death. by the labors and wounda of that hard tought field. Sorrow ia carricid into every nook and corner of our great State ; and the wail ot widows and orphans, mourning a huaband and father cut down in hia prime ; the agonv of old men weeping over a son who will return no more, and of mothers who will not be comforted because of their suelden losa, is the response that sorrow hos evoked."
