Died on the 5th inst., at his residente in Sharon, Josiah R. Sloat, of typhoid i fever, aged fifty-six ycars. Mr. Sloat was one of the oldest inhabitants of this part of Waebteoaw county, having settied on what was formely known as the Bend of the Raisin (now Sharon) thirty-ono ycars ago this Spring. At that time the nearest noighbor he knew of wae at Salino. The deceased was alvvays noted for his h.onesty, industry, and Kberality. He ever aeted with the Democratie party, aod many times eince the first breaking out of this uniortuuate rebellion he has been heard to nsk the question, wheu will this unhappy affair bo ended ? and would say in answer, " the Lord onlv koows, but Üie Union must be preserved, and our flag must not be dishonored." His house was maJe the weieome home for many a weary pioneer in tha eaily eettlement of the county. Com.
