Delegates from the several towns coroposing the 4lh Representativa District of Washtenaw counly, met in Convention, at Clielsea, on the 2öth day of October, 1862, arni organized by calling W A. Jonks to the Chair, aud appointing Darwin Down UK, Seoretary. The fullowing resolutions offcred by J. C. Depew were adopted unanimously; Resolved, That, bclieving our countrv to lx in dangei-ofdissclution, from the verulênce of party spirit engendcred and fuiieiite4 b-y the impracticable scbemes of political denjagogues and partisan fanatics both north and, soutb ; we think it behooves evory good citia-)!i Ui lay aside all party issues, exeept that. of adherence to the povernment, the constitution ana, the iinion aiul devote his undividec) eftorts to (ju&nching thu rlaines of rebellion, disunioQ and tanaticism, which have wrought such disastroy eQects on our happy and prósperous country. Resolved. That while e s,re in favor of a vigorous prosecution of he wr for the purpose of suppressing the rebellion, sustaining the goveinment, preserving the consuuition and perpetuating tlic Union ; we think all (juestions should be carefully avoided whicU wonjil tend to aliénate Ihe affections of tha loytl people of the South, especially of the border gtates, aud prevent a restoration of the Union. Resolved, That wo approve the aeihm of the Democratie State and Oounty Convntions, in endorsing the resolntions of the Unjon State Convention at Jackson, and belieying i# Elisha Coxodos stands pledged to.
