At ;t meeting of the citizena of Dexter, held at Warner' hall, on tho 19th of February, 1863, called for the pur pose of giving tppropriato expression of their respect to the memory of Hon. Samuel V. Dexter, deóessed, H. B, Muscott, Ksq., was callèd to the Chair, and 0. S. Gregory, !''sq , appointed decretary, and on moüon i comaiittcc, consisting of Kev. R. I. Williams, A. D Craije, C. S Gregory, It. A. Beal and H. B. Muscott were appointed to draft and report resolution.-f suitablo to the oc casion, who retired for a short timo and upon their return reported tho followiug resolutions whieh were unauimously adopted by the meeting : Whereaa, It has pleased Almighty God to remove lrom araong us our venerable and distinguUhed friefld and fellow-dtizen, Hou. Samuel W. Df.xtkr, thorefore, Rtsoloed, That as au upright, honest, virtuous and benevolent raan, the deceas(il had no superiors and but few equala II;s hand and puree were ever open to relieve the wants of th? poor, and snffering of the distressed, and to support and i'oster religious bcnevolent an;i aducational interests in our comtaunitï. And as one of the earliest pioneers of the West, bis long and useful life us has greatly endeared him to all who knew him best. ' Reaalticd, That we sincerely condo!e with the bereaved family ; that we offer our heartfelt sympathies to íbera in the loss of one so long loved and honored by us - and that we pray our Heavenly Father 10 support an:l guide thein '.hreugb coming life. Resohed, That as a farther mark of our [ligh respect and esteem for the memory of the deceased, our business will be suspended, and our business places closed to-monow f rom 12 o'clock, I'. M. Rp.aohcd, That a copy of this oxpr?rsion of our feelings, be sigiied by th? ehairman and secretary, and presented to tbe family. Also, that a copy be se?it to the connty press for publication. And on motion it was, Resnheil, Tliat a Cominittee of three consisting of Ooi. A D. Cían, Rev. R: I. Williams, aivi Ueiinis Warner, Esq., are liereby appointed to present the above resolutions to the family of the deceased. Resohed, That R. A. Real, Esq. and Petor Tufte, Ksq., be a committee to wait upon the business men of the village and request them to close their place of business inaceordance with the foregoing resolutions. n. B.
