The placéis but poorly defended. Biloxi twotiundred and twenty-seven miles toutheast of Jackson, and lies on the shore of Mississippi Sound, about half ay betweun Mifesïssippi City and "aacagoula. It is a seaport, and is nly about sixty miles west of Mobile.
