A good aud suffioient field fenoe can be made with fifteen inehes in width of boards, or fifty rods of fence to the thousand feet of boards. Set the posts and nail the first board niue inehes from the grouud ; then nail on the remaining boards, each three inches in width, with spaees between them of five, six, seveu. and ten iüches reepectively. Novv turn a furrow six inehes deep toward the fence on oaoh side. This brings the earth within three inehes of the bottom board, and adds six inehes to the height of the fence, measuring from tha bottom of the furrow, and the ditoh, or bant, makes it very uuhandy for animáis to got at the fence. This makes a fence four feet and ten inehes high. I nave several hundred rods of this fence, The first was built five ycars ago, ánd has proveí! perfectly safe and Bumeient against oattle that are unruly. It was not rackéd by the wind, like a fence of wider koard. Eourteen Jeet boards, with one post ia the niiddle, take a less riuuiber oí' posts. aud mako as good fence as the twolves. -
