[Our correspondent L Commissary," that s Cn.Aitf.KY Brookk, of the &th Michigan Cavalry, has forwarded us a couple of poema procured by our picketfi from F. F. V. ladies of Culpepper County, Va. We nsert ono of them hero. We shatl have a news letter from "Conarnissary" henever he has any dqws to te'.l. - Ed. Akocs.} Oh yes! I am a Southern girl, I glory in the name ; I boast ifc with far greater pride Than wealih or glittering famo. I envy not the Northern girl, Her robes of beauty rare ; Though diamonds grace her snowy neck. And pearls may deck her brow. Chorus- Hurrab! hurrah! for the sunny South. so dear, Three cheers for the homespun dress tho Southern ladies wear. My homespun dress is plain I know, My hat Carolina too ; But then t shows what Southern girla, For Soutiiern rights will do. We have sent tho bravest of our land To battle with the foe. And we will lend a helping hand, We love the South you know. Chorus - Now, Northern goods are out of date, And since " Old Abe's " blockade : We Southern girls will be content With goods of Southern make. I scorn to wear a Northern silk, A bit of Northern lace, But make my homespun dressns up, And Wear them with much grace. Chorus - ■ Our Southern land is a glorious land, And our's a glorious cause ; Three cheers for the Southern girls And for the Southern boys. "5Ve have sent our sweethearts to the war, But, dear girls never mind, The soldier lad will ne'er forget The girl he left behind. Chorus - And now young man ?. word to you, If you would win the fair ; Go to" the field where honor calis, And win your lody therc. Eepaember that our brightest smiles Are for the trne and brave, And that our teara will ever flow, Who filis a soldier's grave. Chorua-r: A soldier lad is the lad for me, Á brave heart I adore : And when the sunny South is free, And fighting is no mor, I will choose for me a lover bravo, From out this gallant land, And to the soldier lad I lovo, I will give my heart and hand.
